{"id":11,"date":"2016-01-26T14:18:23","date_gmt":"2016-01-26T19:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2023-11-16T17:09:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T22:09:41","slug":"our-staff","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/our-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1>Our Staff<\/h1>\n\t<p>Staff members have an average of 10 years experience working with conferences administered by Tomorrow&#8217;s America Foundation.\u00a0 The majority of Staff members are educators.\u00a0 Many hold advanced degrees in education and counseling; in addition, several are actively pursuing continuing education and training.\u00a0 Most are involved with extracurricular activities that benefit the youth in their schools, churches, and communities.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Staff-Credentials.jpg\" alt=\"Staff Credentials\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"534\" width=\"904\" title=\"Staff Credentials\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/BLC-Staff.jpg\" alt=\"BLC Staff\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1600\" width=\"2000\" title=\"BLC Staff\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<p>All of our staff members are well-rounded and experienced in helping youth through many of the challenges facing them at this critical point in their lives. (The average age of our staff is 35.)<\/p>\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;BLC is great camp filled with <strong>counselors who care about you<\/strong>. I really had a great experience this week and I wouldn&#8217;t trade it for the world.&#8221;<\/p><h5>\u00a0&#8211; BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;At first I was scared and nervous because I wasn&#8217;t 100% sure what this camp was about or what we would do. That fear was gone when I met my council. <strong>My counselor made everyone feel so welcomed, loved, and understood.<\/strong> I wouldn&#8217;t trade BLC 2019 for anything!&#8221;<\/p><h5>\u00a0&#8211; BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;An amazing program where you make friends and learn skills you can&#8217;t anywhere else. <strong>The counselors know we matter and truly care<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p><h5>\u00a0&#8211; BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;BLC changed my life. <strong>The profound love, honesty, and kindness that the counselors offered me made me feel capable of anything.<\/strong> The things I learned will help me succeed and be a better person while I do.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll never forget my time here, and I&#8217;m going to tell all my friends about it.&#8221;<\/p><h5>\u00a0&#8211; BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;I enjoyed my time at BLC. Everyone here is open and fun! <strong>The camp counselors were always positive, engaged, and wanted us to get the full experience!<\/strong> I would definitely come again!&#8221;<\/p><h5>\u00a0&#8211; BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>&#8220;BLC was a really great experience. <strong>The counselors were some of the best, wholesome people I&#8217;ve ever been around.<\/strong> It was a 10 out of 10 experience.&#8221;<\/p><h5>-BLC Delegate<\/h5>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/DSC_0527.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0527\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1493\" width=\"2231\" title=\"DSC_0527\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<h2>Staff Screening &amp;\u00a0Selection<\/h2>\n<p>Tomorrow&#8217;s America Foundation only hires staff who meet our high ideals for someone who will impact young people through our conferences.\u00a0 They must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have experience working with young people.<\/li>\n<li>desire to be around young people for the purpose of positively influencing their lives.<\/li>\n<li>display integrity and traditional values in their personal life.<\/li>\n<li>practice the principles they will teach young people at each conference.<\/li>\n<li>exude humor and enthusiasm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<h2>Staff Hiring &amp; Ongoing Evaluation Process<\/h2>\n<p>Before being considered for hire, potential staff must fill out an application and extensive questionnaire to determine their experience and core values, go through several interviews with Michael Broome, and pass a nation-wide criminal background check.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, veteran staff members are evaluated by the director and delegates with whom they interact to determine their eligibility to return the following summer.\u00a0 New background screenings are conducted each summer they desire to work.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, each staff member is provided a Guidelines and Policies Handbook which outlines expectations during the conference.\u00a0 Each staff member signs an agreement that they have read and agree to follow the guidelines set forth in the handbook.<\/p>\n\t<h2>Interested in serving on our staff team?<\/h2>\n<h4>You&#8217;re in the right place!<\/h4>\n\t<h3>Staff Application<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>First, read about our current staff (content on this page, above) to see if you would qualify for a position. We give preference to current educators (teachers, counselors, administrators).<\/li>\n<li>Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broyhill-leadership.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Employment-Application.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the application<\/a>.
