The Carolinas Broyhill Youth Development Retreat (CBYDR) is an adaptation of the Broyhill Leadership Conference just for GIRLS in DSS, foster care, or residential children’s homes in North or South Carolina.
CBYDR is a unique, life-changing experience for the girls who attend each year. During the retreat girls ages 13-19 are challenged to learn, develop and practice leadership and relationship skills that they will be able to utilize for the rest of their lives. While the content of what we teach at CBYDR is serious and challenging, the way in which we teach it appeals to teen girls and puts it on a level they can understand, make their own, and begin to write their own success story!
At CBYDR, there are many opportunities for the delegates to meet other girls from all over North and South Carolina … girls who have had similar life experiences. They will have the chance to hear others’ stories and share their own.
CBYDR will be held annually on a college or university campus. The registration fee includes the take-home curriculum used throughout the week as well as supplies for all the activities. It also includes lodging and meals, a t-shirt and other items.
The generosity of the Broyhill Family Foundation, as well as other donors, is responsible for helping to keep CBYDR so affordable.* Their contribution to Tomorrow’s America Foundation each year allows us to offer CBYDR to girls who are interested in setting goals, becoming a team player, maintaining a positive mental attitude, communicating more effectively, cultivating positive relationships, and making sound moral choices. You will not find a personal development conference anywhere that offers so many years of experience, has the curriculum and activities designed specifically for teens, and is still so affordable.
*An internet search of conferences and camps for youth will reveal the high cost that most organizations charge.
